What’s the Recipe for Healthy Babies? (Day 131)

On the day of this photo, Mackenzie celebrated the turn of the decade, and her very first 1 January. Many more to come, I’m sure.

But one thing I wanted to bring to light with this post is that, at over 4 months old, Mackenzie has yet to be sick at all. We’ve been told over and over by various jealous parents that our first doozie was going to be “right around the corner”, but she remains totally healthy, with her absolute worst spat being a little runny nose about a month ago.

Now, you could say, “we’ve been blessed”, or perhaps, “we’ve just been lucky” or any number of things which would put us as the silly, unwitting recipients of a wunderbaby. Well. we do indeed have a wunderbaby. However, being an effect and not cause is not the position anyone (much less a Scientologist) wants to be in, so my wife & I looked for what we were causatively doing as parents which precipitated this excellent state of affairs.

One of the most major causes of this which we’ve been able to isolate is a sane, calm and helpful environment for the baby to grow up in.

Many parents worry themselves sick about contagion with respect to their babies, but we’ve been ultra-sensitive to contagion not of the bacterial sort, but of another kind entirely.  Here, I quote from L. Ron Hubbard’s masterpiece, Science of Survival:

“Insanity apparently comes about wholly by contagion.  An enturbulated culture or environment can keep an individual in a continuous state of turbulence.” — LRH

In other words, if you know anything of Dianetics, and what insanity due to engrams can do to an individual, simply having an enturbulated space around the baby could massively increase chances of the baby becoming enturbulated, and then getting sick.

L. Ron Hubbard goes on to say:

“There is an apparent family line of aberration.  It was previously thought to be carried genetically, but this is evidently not the case.  It is carried on the thought channel of the family.  The confusions of domestic life get into the moments of physical injury of the child.  And the child, as a consequence, becomes liable for the family aberrations and will manifest them.”  — LRH

So, plain and clear, if you keep the domestic situation calm, in control, and with everyone using crisp, sane communication with a lot of love, you’ll sidestep the pitfall outlined above.

There are a lot of other Scientology principles that we’ve used successfully to help achieve that calm household detailed above – it’s not just thinking happy thoughts and glossing over problems in life.   But much of it boils down to two main simplicities, covered in the Scientology handbook:

  • Communication: One has to communicate a lot, and communicate effectively, in order to have a happy & calm household.  A marriage is based on communication, and ours is no exception.  Both my wife and I have had a significant amount of Scientology training on this matter, and as a result we generally go a few years at a time between arguments.  When was our last one?  I think about 2 years ago, actually – and that only lasted about 2 minutes.  Knowing how to communicate is easily the most under-evaluated skill that there is.
  • Scientology: Assists for Illnesses & Injuries
Scientology: Assists for Illnesses & Injuries

Assists: The other technique in Scientology which we use extremely often is that of Scientology assists.  These are easy techniques developed by Mr. Hubbard to allow people to recover from injuries and upsets and to get them back into communication with their surroundings and their body.  You can learn the key assists in a matter of minutes, and the entire booklet on how to do them is available free from the Scientology Volunteer Ministers website.    The one we use most often is called the Locational Assist, and we find it invaluable in keeping Mackenzie totally in touch with her environment and not in a state of upset or confusion.

  1. Very theta!!! Such an awesome job you three are doing. Wishing u much more happiness in 2010

  2. What a great website! I just had my 3rd child and have been doing ok but finding life stressful and without much enjoyment. I realised yesterday it was largely due to lack of Source! I havent been on course for months. But your website has really made my day and made me realise I need a daily dose of source to help me out. So thank you.
Also wanted to say that using assists are vital for sure. We do locationals and “where did it happen, where are you now” (which works on kids as young as a few months incidentally). A while back my little boy was very unwell and I decided he needed a touch assist. He was so lethargic it was very upsetting but I composed myself and delivered the assist. I had to do it for 40 minutes, we got dope off and everything! Finally we reached a good point (he originated communication for the first time all day). He went to bed and the next fay was 100% better, totally fine :).
So this website is just fantastic and I will be checking in regularly. Love, Siobhan

    1. Siobhan – thanks, and glad you found the site! I agree – “Where did it happen, where are you now” is a fantastic assist to use on injuries, and I think works on kids of all ages.

When I was at Delphi in Oregon, our team’s Volleyball coach (an accomplished Scientology auditor) also used that assist on a player from the other team who got injured during the game. She had no idea what hit her, but all of the sudden she was feeling much better! 🙂
