Child Exercise & Happiness

I’ve been preparing myself for the fact that soon, my daughter is just going to sprout wheels, and will need to be running 25 miles/night just to be able to sleep well at night.

Well, I think it’s already starting to happen. While my wife was meeting some people at the Church, I took the kids in our new double-jogger down to the White House, where Mackenzie wanted to see the fountains. She then asked out of the jogger, and proceeded to just SPRINT around one of the fountains in Lafayette park.

She then proceeded to literally do about 15 laps around the double-fountain (probably about a half-mile of running) before I could convince her to get back into the stroller.

The funny thing was, she was just out of her gourd, being able to run like that. And that night, she was quite happy, and went to bed pleased as punch.

Reminded me of a quote from Science of Survival I came across this, on page 221. (This, by the way, is from where L. Ron Hubbard is talking about a change of environment as being one of the valid therapies to raise one on the tone scale)

“A special part of environmental change would be changes in health by reason of nutrition or better living conditions.”

“Good physical exercise can, by itself, markedly increase the individual’s position on the Tone Scale.”

I definitely experienced that!

  1. Awesome, Tad! LOVE it! We play soccer or monkeybars every day for an hour or so and Mia and Brooklyn love it.

My kids hold hands in the car when we drive too, it’s so sweet.

    Love,
    Kelly

  2. Physical exercise has been shown to improve your mood and decrease feelings of depression, anxiety, monotony, and stress
It produces changes in the parts of the brain that regulate stress and anxiety. if can also increase brain sensitively to the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine, which relieve feelings of depression
